This year's 'must-have' present, the Nintendo Wii, has only been in stock infrequently in the UK.
Shoppers still tracking down their presents for their friends or families. Stores wre buzzing with gift hunters, and made it enjoyable.
Despite fears the credit crisis and high living costs, thousand of people were still happily handing over their hard-earned cash and plastic to stores. Shoppers were pouring over the threshold, and grabbing piles of gifts, enjoying the Christmas break. They travel to central London at the last minute, partly to avoid the earlier crowds and to take advantage of early reductions.
Similarly, to be matching London, some people will go shopping at the night marketat, some will travel city centre to hit the shops in lunar Chinese New Year. They are sesperately hunting for new gifts or menswear or beauty. We hoped optimistically to catch some of the discounts or the retailers were going to have bargains.
