奇珍異獸 vs. 美食當前

@Giant Catfish May Be World's Largest Freshwater Fish

Fishers in northern Thailand netted this huge catfish in the Mekong River on May 1 2007. Nearly nine feet long (2.7 meters) and as big as a grizzly bear(灰熊), the behemoth tipped the scales at 646 pounds (293 kilograms). Experts say the fish, which belongs to the species known as the Mekong giant catfish, may be the largest freshwater fish ever recorded.

"For the Mekong giant catfish, northern Thailand is a spawning ground, whereas the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia is a rearing area," said U.S. biologist Zeb Hogan, who studied the fish pictured for his Megafishes Project, which is documenting the world's giant freshwater fish.

The giant catfish is in danger of disappearing from Thailand completely," said Zeb Hogan, "we hope our migration studies(an effort to protect vulnerable populations of migratory fish in the Mekong River Basin) and environmental awareness campaign will lead toward more sustainable management of Cambodia's fisheries."

真的比灰熊厲害ㄛ,Discovering the behemoth(巨獸) as the largest freshwater fish: giant catfish(@鯰魚). It was catptured in the Mekong River in Cambodia(柬埔寨)where giant catfish leave their eggs(spawning ground).
